According to the latest rumors, Amazon’s upcoming tablet will be several hundred dollars cheaper than the iPad. When HP last week announced that the company suspends the Touchpad it went on a fire sale for $99, which created a huge rush to grab the last copies–something that shows that if the price is right then the customers will be there.
This may mean good news for Amazon, which is reported to be planning to release a new pad of some sort sometime in late September or early October. According to new data it will be several hundred dollars cheaper than Apple’s iPad 2. At least sources for the New York Post says that Amazon will sell the company’s tablet considerably cheaper than the iPad.
the sources say, however, not exactly what the tablet will cost. It is possible that Amazon would subsidize the price of its new tablet and instead earn money on the sales of books and other content–the same business model used in game consoles.
According to information leaked in the past, Amazon’s tablet will run on Android 3.2 and have a display of nine inches. According to other rumors, two models are to be released with different processing power.
